Have to Have gives users a way to build a web based list of items they want. The user can begin by shopping the web and adding items to their list from retail websites using a Have to Have browser button. The user can share their list rather than sending out individual product links. When the user is ready to make a purchase, they can return to their Have to Have list and buy items with a single click. Have to Have also sends notifications when individual items go on sale. The application also works through Facebook and includes a number of social features, such as friend recommendations and the ability to follow users to see what items they are interested in buying online.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

Have to Have was founded by Carla Holtze and Kimerly Skelton. The application was founder’s approach to improving the way internet users shop the web. Have to Have was intended to decrease the amount of time required to shop and buy items online while providing users with a convenient way to save money and stay on top of recent sales. The application currently functions as an all encompassing wish list for internet users that are also passionate shoppers.

What are the differences to other apps?

There are a number of social shopping applications. Have to Have is yet another that offers many of the same features. The application is not unique, but some users may appreciate its mature, sleek interface and trendy feel. The design is basic, but this is a good thing because Have to Have offers basic features that make shopping fun. The browser button is small enough to remain out of the way, but ready for use when the user finds something frilly or colorful they wish to add to their shopping list.

How does the registration process work?

New users can join the Have to Have shopping community by clicking either the blue “Login with Facebook” button” or the light blue “Create an Account” link just below it in the upper, right hand corner of the homepage. The button allows users to log in with Facebook while the link takes the user to the registration form. Two additional buttons are presented at the top of the homepage for users who wish to log in with a Google or Twitter account instead. Others can fill out the form, which asks for a first and last name, email address and password. The user is automatically logged in after successfully submitting the registration form.

Have to Have is available to all users for free. There are no subscription fees or other charges for using the application. Charging a fee for this service would be counterproductive. Have to Have wants users to make purchases from their wish lists. Of course users may be enticed to make more online purchases because the items they want will be so easily accessible once they add them to their list. This is not a requirement and the amount spent is left up to the user.

HaveToHave.com is a fun application for anyone who loves to shop online and uses social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter. The user can compile a list of the items they want the most and edit it at any time. They can share their wants with others and follow their friends to see what others want. The social aspect makes shopping with Have to Have far more engaging than shopping the web alone.
